Spring break can be a tricky time for families. Kids are out of their regular routines, parents are balancing work and home responsibilities, and many children end up spending more time on screens than anyone planned. At KEBM/The Sensory Spot, we understand how important it is for children to stay engaged, active, and socially connected during school breaks.
That’s why our Spring Sensory Camp in McDonough is designed to provide a supportive and engaging experience for children ages 4 to 10. At KEBM/The Sensory Spot, children have the opportunity to explore, create, and build friendships in a calm, structured environment led by our BCBA-trained team.
Here are five reasons why children love this week and why your child will thrive at our camp.
A Calm Environment That Helps Kids Feel Comfortable
Some camp environments can feel overwhelming for children, especially those who benefit from more predictable routines and quieter spaces. Our Spring Sensory Camp is intentionally designed to create a balanced atmosphere where kids feel comfortable participating and exploring new activities.
Key features include:
-Predictable daily routines that help children know what to expect
-Small group sizes that allow for more individual support
-A calm, structured environment designed to support sensory needs
-When children feel safe and regulated, they are more likely to participate fully, try new things, and enjoy the experience.
Hands-On Activities That Keep Kids Excited to Learn
Children learn best through play and exploration. Each day of camp includes engaging activities that encourage creativity, curiosity, and movement.
Examples of activities your child may experience include:
Nature exploration and outdoor playKids explore the outdoors, observe nature, and engage with different textures and environments.
Art, building, and creative projectsHands-on activities encourage imagination while helping children strengthen fine motor skills.
Movement, music, and mindfulnessActive play helps children release energy while practicing body awareness and self-regulation.
Spring science experimentsFun experiments spark curiosity and introduce simple science concepts in an exciting way.
This variety helps children stay engaged while discovering new interests throughout the week.
Kids Practice Friendship Skills Through Play
Spring camp is also a wonderful opportunity for children to practice social skills in a natural setting. Instead of structured lessons, social learning happens through group games, shared activities, and cooperative play.
Children practice skills such as:
-Taking turns during games
-Working together on group projects
-Communicating their ideas with peers
-Problem-solving during play
-Celebrating successes together
These everyday interactions help children build confidence and strengthen their ability to connect with others.
Activities Led by a Team That Understands Child Development
Our camp is led by a team trained in behavior and child development, meaning staff understand how to support children with different learning styles, sensory needs, and communication abilities. Throughout the week, they encourage participation in a comfortable way, support positive peer interactions, and provide gentle guidance when challenges arise. Each child’s effort and progress are celebrated, creating a supportive environment where kids can grow, connect, and enjoy their experience.
